Polimedia lab : we are seized !
09.Dec.03 - This morning around 10 am the access to the Polimedia Lab has been denied. On demand of the owner of the building 20 policemen in riot gear showed up and asked the We Seize! media-activists to pick up their material and leave the building. Under the pretext of inappropriate safety measures the owner didn’t agree that the space was rented to the Geneva03 collective. The Geneva03 collective negotiated with the owner to prevent the eviction of the place.
The Polimedia Lab is set up to have 3 days of public workshops to share technical and theoretical skills on information and communication technology for independent media production.
New Polymedia Lab Location Denies Knowledge of Agreement
After negotiating, the city council of Geneva promised the Geneva03 collective that the PolimediaLab could be housed in "Maison des associations". The activists packed all the material and left. But when they arrived at "Maison des associations" nobody knew a thing.... It seems to have been a dirty strategy to evict the PolimediaLab preparations and to take away the opportunity for the public to involve in an alternative information society.
